Marshfield football blanked by Oshkosh North

MARSHFIELD – Oshkosh North wrapped up sole possession of the Valley Football Association South Division championship for the second-straight season, shutting out Marshfield 29-0 in the regular-season finale on Friday at Beell Stadium.

Alex Hintze rushed for 150 yards and threw for 100 more to lead the Spartans (8-1, 7-0 VFA South).

Marshfield ends the season with a 2-7 record (1-6 VFA South), its lowest win total since 1994. The Tigers will miss the WIAA playoffs for the first time since 1995.

Oshkosh North, the WIAA Division 2 state runner-ups last season, scored twice in the first quarter and added 17 points on its first three possessions of the second half to pull away.

Derek Coffren threw for 113 yards and rushed for 30 for the Tigers. Zach McManus had a big game receiving, catching seven passes for 86 yards.
