Stratford football roughs up Pittsville in regular-season finale

PITTSVILLE – The Stratford football team ended the regular season on a high note, blasting Pittsville 38-0 in its finale regular-season and Marawood Conference game of the season Friday at Pittsville High School.

The Tigers won their second game in a row and improve to 6-3 overall and finish 5-2 in the Marawood, tying Auburndale for second place. Pittsville wraps up its season with a 2-7 record and a 1-6 mark in the conference.

Stratford will move on to the WIAA playoffs for the 23rd straight season. The Tigers will host Mishicot (7-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium in a Division 5 Level 1 matchup. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.

Kyle Martin had the big blow for the Tigers, running 96 yards for a touchdown during a 21-point first quarter.

Stratford scored all 38 of its points in the first half as Kam Bornbach, Taylor Krall, Jake Reif and Jake Zuelke each added touchdown runs and Zuelke booted a 34-yard field goal as time ran out in the half.

Stratford intercepted two passes and Zuelke recovered a fumble as it dominated, holding Pittsville to 48 total yards.
