MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team dropped its first two games at the annual Andrew Thiel Memorial Tournament, losing to Eau Claire North 3-2 on Friday night and 7-4 to Stevens Point Pacelli on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers rebounded with a 3-2 win over Altoona on Saturday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.
Marshfield pulled out a 3-2 win over Altoona on Saturday night to finish the tournament with a 1-2 record.
Ran McConnell scored his first varsity goal in the first period and Zach Leggon scored midway through the second period to tie the game for Marshfield. Jacob Draves scored the game-winner 3:33 into the third period.
Hayden Roy-Peterson had 24 saves for the Tigers.
In the loss to Pacelli, Draves scored twice and Leggon and Klaus Friedl each added goals for Marshfield.
Friedl’s goal 4:38 into the third period closed Pacelli’s lead to 5-4, but the Cardinals scored twice in the final 1:13 to ice the win.
Draves and Leggon scored the Tigers’ goals in the loss to Eau Claire North.
