Auburndale girls basketball whips Pittsville

PITTSVILLE – Shannon Yahnke had 23 points and seven rebounds to help the Auburndale girls basketball team to a 60-27 rout of Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Monday night at Pittsville High School.

Yahnke made 9 of 17 shots from the field and 5 of 7 from the free throw line for the Apaches (8-1, 3-1 Marawood South).

Auburndale rolled out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter and led 38-11 at halftime.

Taylor Gotz had 12 points and Sylviann Momont added seven points, six steals and nine rebounds for the Apaches.

Jenna Hughes led Pittsville (0-9, 0-3 Marawood South) with nine points.
