Columbus Catholic boys basketball surges past Loyal with big fourth quarter

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic used a huge fourth-quarter run to bust open a tie game and go on to defeat Loyal 55-43 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball matchup Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The score was tied 34-34 after three quarters before the Dons outscored Loyal 21-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.

Brett Loveland had a career-high 18 points for the Dons. Sophomores Hunter Schultz and Tyler Fuerlinger each added 13 points, and Evan Nikolai had 10.

Columbus Catholic (9-5, 8-2 Cloverbelt East) plays at Gilman on Friday.
