Marshfield boys hockey doubles up Rhinelander

RHINELANDER – Marshfield scored three times in the first period and held on to double-up Rhinelander 4-2 in a nonconference boys hockey game Friday night at the Rhinelander Ice Center.

Collin Barth, Scott Berg and Jacob Draves each scored in the first period for the Tigers (7-11).

After Rhinelander (6-9-1) rallied to cut the Tigers’ lead to one, Draves added another goal 1:37 into the third period to cap the scoring.

Klaus Friedli had two assists and Haydon Roy-Peterson had 23 saves in goal for Marshfield.

Marshfield plays at first-place Wisconsin Rapids next Thursday. The Wisconsin Valley Conference game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com at 7 p.m.
