STEVENS POINT – Marshfield senior Olivia Tierney will be competing at the WIAA State Gymnastics Championships after finishing second in the floor exercise Saturday at the Division 1 sectional at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
Tierney placed in a three-way tie for second in the floor with a score of 9.25 to earn a spot at the state meet, which will be Saturday, March 7, at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
The top five finishers in each event and the top teams earned spots in the state meet.
Tierney plaed seventh in the all-around with a score of 35.0, missing a state spot by 0.45 points.
Stevens Point and Gale-Etrick-Trempealeau earned the spots in the team state meet, which is Friday. Marshfield was fifth out of the eight teams at the sectional.
