West gets revenge against Marshfield baseball

WAUSAU – The Wausau West baseball team exacted revenge against Marshfield on Thursday.

After losing their season-opener at Marshfield 6-5 on April 13 with a Tigers’ rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors blasted Marshfield 11-2 on Thursday at West to tighten up the Wisconsin Valley Conference standings.

Wisconsin Rapids beat Wausau East and D.C. Everest defeated Rhinelander by identical 5-4 scores on Thursday, putting six of the seven teams in the conference within 1 1/2 games of each other. Rapids and Rhinelander lead the standings at 4-2, with Marshfield and Everest now at 3-2. Stevens Point is 2-2 and West is 2-3.

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest on Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.
