Spencer baseball rolls past Granton

GRANTON – Spencer needed just three innings to pile up 16 runs and roll to a 16-0 shutout of Granton in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Thursday at Granton High School.

The Rockets scored three times in the first, six more times in the second and finished it off with a seven-run third to improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Granton is now 0-6 and 0-4 in the conference.

Nate Neumann earned the win for Spencer, striking out two and allowing three hits in three innings. Jake Meyers struck out two in two perfect innings in relief.

Spencer had 13 hits, led by Calvin Lenz, who was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Jonny Tomke added three RBIs and Ryan Busse had a pair of doubles for the Rockets.

Spencer hosts Owen-Withee at 5 p.m. Friday at Spencer High School.
