Spencer baseball crushes Colby, clinches share of Cloverbelt East title

SPENCER – The Spencer baseball team whipped Colby 14-4 on Thursday to clinch a share of the Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship.

Calvin Lenz gave up four runs in four innings to earn the win. He also went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The Rockets (19-2, 15-1 Cloverbelt East) scored nine times in the first inning and added five more in the third to put the game away.

Ryan Busse had three hits, Bobby Pilz and Jake Meyers each had two hits and two RBIs, and Mitch Susa had a pair of hits and drove in three for Spencer.

The Rockets host Marawood Conference South Division champion Marathon in a nonconference game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Spencer High School.
