RIB LAKE – The Stratford football team is one step closer to another postseason berth after whipping Prentice/Rib Lake 62-6 in a Marawood Conference contest Friday night at Rib Lake High School.
The Tigers improve to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Marawood, needing to win one of their final two games – Oct. 9 at Auburndale or Oct. 16 at home vs. Pittsville – to clinch their 24th-straight WIAA playoff appearance.
Prentice/Rib Lake is now 0-7 and 0-6 in the Marawood.
Prentice/Rib Lake actually ran more plays (46-42) than Stratford, but the Hawks couldn’t do much to stop the Tigers.
Stratford outgained P/RL 467-120 and scored on nine of the 42 plays it ran.
Kam Bornbach had 127 yards rushing on just 10 carries and scored twice, and Taylor Krall, A.J. Schoenfuss, Wyatt Ehrike and Cole Hoffmann added rushing touchdowns.
Quarterback Sam Wenzel tossed touchdown passes of 23 yards to Jesse Dickmann and 20 yards to Ehrike.
