Marshfield’s Voss, Auburndale’s Harrison earn top-10 finishes at WIAC Cross Country Championships

WINNECONNE – A pair of area high school graduates earned top-10 finishes to help their respective teams to first and second-place finishes at the 2015 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Lake Breeze Golf Course.

Marshfield High School graduate Rebecca Voss placed fifth for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, which took second to UW-Oshkosh. Auburndale High School alum Danica Harrison took ninth to help the Titans to their 16th conference title and first since 2000.

Voss, a sophomore transfer for UW-Green Bay, finished fifth in 22:28.37 for La Crosse, which had 51 points, just four short of Oshkosh.

Harrison, a senior, ran in 22:48.66 to finish as the Titans’ third runner.

Lucy Ramquist of Eau Claire won the individual title, completing the 6,000-meter course in 21:56.56.

UW-Eau Claire won its second-straight WIAC men’s cross country title in dominating fashion, finishing with 33 points. UW-La Crosse was second with 80 points.

Josh Throson of Eau Claire won the men’s 8,000-meter race in 24:48.56.
