Marshfield girls basketball edges Marathon in season-opener

ANTIGO – McKayla Scheuer drilled four 3-pointers and scored 26 points to lead the Marshfield girls basketball team to a slim 56-53 victory over Marathon on Saturday as part of the Antigo Tournament.

Scheuer hit 10 of 15 shots overall from the field, was 4-for-6 from 3-point range, and made both of her free throw attempts as she tallied nearly half of the Tigers’ points in their season-opener. She also had seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Ema Fehrenbach added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Hannah Meverden also had 11 rebounds for Marshfield.

The Tigers will play Rhinelander on Saturday at Antigo.
