Stratford boys basketball surges past Abbotsford in second half

STRATFORD – Ethan Nagel scored 15 points and Derrick Schmidt hauled down 17 rebounds as the Stratford boys basketball team overcame a poor shooting game to beat Abbotsford 50-44 in a nonconference game Tuesday at Stratford High School.

Brenden Fecker added 12 points and three steals, and Jacob Danen had 10 for the Tigers, who improve to 6-3.

Abbotsford (3-4) led 27-22 at halftime before Stratford rallied to pull out the victory. The Tigers shot just 34 percent from the field, but made six 3-pointers and were 12 of 15 at the free throw line.

Stratford hosts Edgar in another nonconference game on Monday, Jan. 4.
