Spencer/Columbus’ Hunter Luepke wins 195-pound title at Northern Badger Wrestling Classic

RIVER FALLS – Hunter Luepke won the title at 195 pounds and the Spencer/Columbus Catholic wrestling team went on to a fourth-place finish in Division 2 at the Northern Badger Wrestling Classic on Tuesday and Wednesday at River Falls High School.

Luepke (15-1) defeated Matthew Williamson of River Falls 3-1 in the title match at 195.

Logan Zschernitz finished fifth at 285 pounds for the Rockets, beating Parker Steen of Luck/Frederic/Grantsburg/Siren 2-1 in double overtime in the fifth-place match.

Others earning place finishes for Spencer/Columbus were Nathan Neumann (sixth at 160), Hunter Hildebrandt (eighth at 170), Bryce Shaw (ninth at 126), Carson Hildebrandt (11th at 152) and Dominick WIchlacz (12th at 120).

River Falls won the Division 1 team title, Spring Valley/Elmwood took first in Division 2, and Boyceville won the title in Division 3.

Spencer/Columbus hosts Stanley-Boyd/Thorp/Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference dual match on Jan. 7 at Spencer High School.
