PITTSVILLE – Stratford won 10 of the 14 weight classes and took second in three others as it rolled to its third-straight Marawood Conference Wrestling Tournament title on Saturday at Pittsville High School.
The Tigers had 316½ points, topping second-place Athens by 135. Auburndale was last in eighth place with 64 points.
The tournament title is Stratford’s eighth in program history, to go along with others from 2000-04, and the past two seasons.
Stratford won each of the first eight championship matches.
Manny Drexler (106 pounds), Jake Drexler (113) and A.J. Schoenfuss (120) each won by pin, Jeremy Schoenherr cruised to a 22-3 technical fall at 126, and Derek Marten followed that with another pin for the Tigers at 132.
Jordan Becker won a 11-6 decision at 138, Sam Wenzel had a pin of Auburndale’s Dylan Altmann at 145, and Mason Kauffman won 10-3 at 152.
Kamren Bornbach (182) and Tyson Kauffman (285) also won titles for Stratford.
David Marquardt (160), Dylan Schoenherr (170) and Aiden Hoffman (195) each finished second for Stratford, and Jon Aguirre (220) ended up third.
Auburndale had two third-place finishes – Trayton Weister at 113 and Keller Wolfe at 170. Matt Leick (106) and Isaiah Hasenohrl (120) finished fifth for the Apaches.
Stratford and Auburndale will compete at the WIAA Division 3 regional on Feb. 13 at Edgar.
