WAUSAU – For the fourth-straight game, the Marshfield baseball team had to go extra innings, and for the third game in a row, the Tigers came out on top.
Marshfield rallied from a two-run deficit to force extra innings with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning, and won it with two runs in the top of the 10th to beat Wausau East 6-4 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference finale Thursday.
Trevor Schwecke earned the win for the Tigers as he pitched four shutout innings in relief of Connor Jasurda. Both Marshfield pitchers struck out seven and held East (5-14, 1-11 Wisconsin Valley Conference) to just six hits in 10 innings.
Scott Berg had three hits and two RBIs, and Schwecke and Jeremy Brost each had two hits and an RBI for Marshfield (12-12, 6-6 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Marshfield will wrap up its regular-season schedule with a nonconference game at Tomah on Friday.
