EAU CLAIRE – Marshfield’s Derek Michalski had a birdie on the first playoff hole to earn a spot in next week’s state tournament after tying for fifth at the WIAA Division 1 boys golf sectional Tuesday at Wild Ridge Golf Club.

Michalski, a junior, shot a three-over par 75 to finish tied for fifth with Michaelem Selissen of Hudson for the third and final individual qualifying spot for the state tournament. In the playoff, Michalski needed just one hole to win the playoff and move on.
