MARSHFIELD – Bobby Pilz had a bases-loaded, two-out, two-run double to bust open a tight game and push the Marshfield Clinic Post 54 American Legion senior baseball team to a 5-1 win over Stevens Point on Thursday night at Jack Hackman Field.

The Blue Devils led 2-1 after RBI singles by Trevor Schwecke in the third and Jack Donahue in the fifth, before Pilz’s decisive hit scored Cole Hoffman and Jason Kurth.

Kurth provided the final run for Marshfield (5-2, 1-1 Wisconsin Valley Legion League) with an RBI groundout to score Paul Maguire in eighth inning.

Donahue earned the win, pitching seven innings. He allowed seven hits and three walks, and struck out five. Jake Brueggen tossed two shutout innings to complete the victory.

Mitch Susa, Nate McDonald, Maguire and Pilz all had two hits for the Blue Devils.
