Stratford, Auburndale well-represented on Marawood South all-conference baseball and softball teams

Stratford’s Bredemann unanimous first-team pick to softball team
Stratford junior catcher Brittany Bredemann was one of four players unanimously selected to the All-Marawood Conference South Division softball team.

Bredemann hit .460 (23 of 50) with eight doubles, three triples, and 19 RBIs for the Tigers, who were 10-2 in the Marawood South.

Senior third baseman Kaylee Geiger and senior pitcher/designated player Lorrie Luepke were also named to the first team for Stratford.

Geiger led the Tigers with a .556 batting average in conference play (25 of 45) and topped the Marawood South with nine doubles, three home runs, and 24 runs scored. She also had 18 RBIs.

Luepke hit .444 (20 of 45) with seven doubles and 13 RBIs, and was 5-0 with a 2.07 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched.

Senior first baseman Casey Kolbeck and junior outfielder Sammy Griesbach were second-team picks, and sophomore pitcher Kiana Weiler and freshman shortstop Macey Kilty were honorable mention selections for Stratford.

Auburndale had three all-conference performers, with senior Sydney Schmutzer named to the second team, and junior Brooke Anderson and senior Robyn Brokish earning honorable mention status after the Apaches finished 6-6 and in fourth place in the standings.

Schmutzer hit .500 (15 of 30), while Anderson had a team-high 14 runs scored and batted .394, and Brokish hit .281 and went 3-0 pitching with a 3.00 ERA.

Stratford has pair of all-Marawod South baseball team
Stratford juniors Cole Hoffman and Dylan Peterson, and Auburndale junior Logan Willfahrt were among the first-team selections to the 2016 All-Marawood Conference South Division Baseball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches.

All three local players were unanimous selections as nine of the 10 first-team picks were chosen unanimously by the coaches.

Stratford finished 8-4 and in a tie for second place with Pittsville in the conference standings behind champion Marathon. Auburndale was 6-6 and in fourth place.

Hoffman led the Marawood South in batting average, hitting .500 (20 of 40), with two home runs, eight RBIs, 16 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. He also went 5-2 on the mound with a 1.10 earned-run average, which was second in the conference.

Peterson batted .409 (18 of 44) with a team-high 12 RBIs.

Willfahrt led the conference with 11 stolen bases, and hit .343 (12 of 35) with 11 runs scored and eight RBIS.

Auburndale junior Caleb Weinfurter and Stratford junior Dakota Singer were among the second-team selections.
