Marshfield Post 54 Junior Legion baseball team wins title at La Crosse Wood Bat Tournament

LA CROSSE – The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Junior American Legion baseball team won five-straight games to take first place at the La Crosse A’s Wood Bat Tournament last weekend.

Marshfield defeated La Crosse Aquinas 10-0 on Friday, and beat River Falls 11-6 and Sparta 8-0 on Saturday to qualify for the semifinals. The Blue Demons went on to a 14-5 victory over Union Grove and a 15-1 rout of La Crosse Central on Sunday to win the title.

Marshfield coach Tim Spaeth stated that Devin Toburen, Tyler Spaeth, Ryan Krueger and Logan Matson had notable performances for the Blue Demons.

Marshfield (7-4 overall) went on to beat Wausau 11-4 at Athletic Park on Monday and will be back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader against Wisconsin Rapids at Jack Hackman Field beginning at 5:30 p.m.
