MARSHFIELD – Three members of the Marshfield MAGIC Gymnastics program will be heading to Florida this weekend to compete in the AAU Age Group Level Gymnastics National Championship.
MAGIC members Kayla Drexler of Stratford, Ashlyn Guldan of Auburndale, and Rachel Lindner of Greenwood will be among a contingent from Wisconsin that will take part in the individual competition at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World in Orlando on Friday and Saturday.
Drexler is a sixth-grader at Stratford Elementary School and Guldan is a sixth-grader at Auburndale. For both, it is their first year competing with the MAGIC. Both will be in the Level 2 field.
“Kayla and Ashlyn will be attending nationals after just their first year of competition,” MAGIC coach Allie Dryer said. “This will be the largest meet that they have competed in, and I am so glad for them to get this opportunity to compete on such a big stage early in their gymnastics journey.”
Lindner, an eighth-grader at Greenwood Middle School, is the veteran of the group. This will be her third national tournament and will be her first at Level 5.
“As the team coach for these gymnasts, I am very pleased with the progress they made this year,” Dryer said. “For Rachel, this is her third national championship. She is a seasoned competitor and we are hoping for her to be competitive at this level of competition.”
Marshfield MAGIC is the competition team for the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County Continuing Education Youth Gymnastics program in Marshfield. In addition to the three athletes competing at nationals, the team had several state champions and additional national qualifiers from our state meet this year.
