ABBOTSFORD – The Abbotsford Merchants handed the Marshfield Chaparrals a 1-0 loss in a pitcher’s duel Sunday in Dairyland League amateur baseball action Sunday.
Ryan Williams was the tough-luck loser for the Chaparrals, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out 10 in a complete-game effort.
The game was scoreless until Abbotsford plated the game’s only run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Alex Steines had two hits for Marshfield, which is now 8-6 overall and 5-4 in the Dairyland.
Marshfield hosts Tomahawk at 7 p.m. Monday at Jack Hackman Field in a Dairyland League contest.
