MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls tennis team lost its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener on Thursday, falling 6-1 to Wisconsin Rapids at the Boson Tennis Complex.
Marshfield’s lone win came at No. 1 singles where Ashley Schultz beat Hannah Wangen 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Wisconsin Rapids won five of the other six matches in straight sets.
The Tigers will compete at the Brookfield Central Invitational on Friday and Saturday, and return to WVC play Monday at Stevens Point.
