HORTONVILLE – Hortonville quarterback Charlie Schabo threw for 353 yards and five touchdowns, four to Brock Young, as the Polar Bears blew past Marshfield 35-7 in a Valley Football Association South Division game Friday night at Hortonville High School.
Hortonville (5-1, 4-1 VFA South) raced out to a 28-0 lead by halftime and a 70-yard touchdown strike from Schabo in the third quarter gave the Polar Bears a five-touchdown lead.
In addition to the 70-yarder, Young had TD catches of 37, 8, and 2 yards.
Ryan Krueger threw a 4-yard touchdown pass from Zachary Schmidt for Marshfield’s only score, coming in the fourth quarter.
Krueger finished with 131 yards passing and two interceptions, ad Braden Bohman had 63 yards on the ground for the Tigers (2-4, 1-4 VFA South).
The loss leaves the Tigers with having to win their final three games of the season to qualify for the WIAA playoffs. Marshfield hosts Stevens Point next Friday, before playing at home against Oshkosh North for its homecoming game on Oct. 7. The Tigers finish the season Oct. 14 at Fond du Lac.
