Marshfield athletic department to host presentations for student-athletes, parents, coaches

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield High School athletic department will be hosting four presentations regarding education-based athletics on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 24-25.

Lynn Kachmarik, founder and director of True Brand Sports, will be working with parents, students and coaches in Marshfield during those two days. True Brand Sports focuses on improving today’s sports culture through interactive workshops for coaches and student-athletes at the collegiate, high school, youth and travel sport levels, as well as the education of parents on the impact of their behavior on the character development of their young athletes.

Kachmarik has more than 45 years of experience in youth, high school, collegiate and professional sports. She was an All-American water polo player and swimmer at Slippery Rock University, was a member of the U.S. National water polo team, the head coach of water polo and swimming at Bucknell University, Athletic Director at St. Mary’s College, Vice President and General Manager of the South Bend Silver Hawks minor league baseball team, and most recently served as the National Outeach Director of Play Like a Champion Today at the University of Notre Dame.

The Marshfield athletic department welcomes all parents and community members to a 60-minute presentation on Monday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Marshfield High School Auditorium about the role of parents of student athletes.

All Marshfield Middle School students may attend a presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. titled “What you Sacrifice to Be Cool.”

Kachmarik will meet with the Tigers Together Leadership Group at noon on Tuesday, discussing “Why Exceptional Leadership Matters.”

Following that, all high school student-athletes may attend a presentation titled “What Motivates You to Be Successful,” at 1:30 p.m.

Finally, a presentation for coaches of sports at the middle school and high school level will be held at 6:30 p.m. about communication and the mental toughness and grit of today’s student-athlete.
