Stratford girls basketball hands Bangor its first loss

BANGOR – The Stratford girls basketball team held off Bangor 47-40 on Tuesday night to win its opening-round game at the Bangor Holiday Tournament.

The Tigers led 22-14 at halftime and survived for the seven-point win, improving to 9-1 this season, and handing Bangor (7-1) its first loss.

Sammy Griesbach had a season-high 19 points for Stratford, making 7 of 13 shots from the free throw line.

Andie Zuelke added nine points and Chelsey Gliniecki had eight rebounds for the Tigers.

Stratford will play Westby as the tournament continues Wednesday.
