Stratford boys basketball storms back to beat Newman Catholic

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to top Wausau Newman Catholic 62-51 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday night at Stratford High School.

The Tigers trailed 34-26 at halftime before dominating the second half with a 36-17 run to win by double digits.

Vaughn Breit had 15 points and eight rebounds, Brenden Fecker hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, and Cole Hoffmann added 11 points for Stratford (6-4, 2-2 Marawood South).

Stratford will play at Auburndale as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Tuesday. The girls game begins at 5:45 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
