Auburndale girls basketball edges Northland Lutheran

AUBURNDALE – Marissa Ponshock had a season-high 14 points to lead the Auburndale girls basketball team to a narrow 42-39 victory over Northland Lutheran in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches are now 9-8 overall and 5-5 in the Marawood South. Northland Lutheran drops to 4-14 and 1-9 in the conference.

Ponshock made 7 of 10 shots from the field and added a team-high seven rebounds for Auburndale.

The Apaches survived despite shooting just 18 of 53 from the field and 6 of 15 at the free throw line.

Kari Kreklau and Sidney Moore each had 12 points for Northland Lutheran.

Auburndale plays a nonconference game at Adams-Friendship on Tuesday.
