Wausau West shuts out Marshfield boys hockey

WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys hockey team finished its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule with a 9-0 loss to Wausau West on Thursday at the Marathon Park Ice Arena.

West scored five times in the first 11:26 to take control early.

With the victory, Wausau West (19-3-1, 9-1 WVC) tied Stevens Point for the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship. Marshfield is now 9-13-1 and finished 1-8-1 in the WVC. The Tigers host Black River Falls in a WIAA regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.

Marshfield had just 12 shots on goal, all saved by West goalie Jacob Warnke.

Haydon Roy-Peterson had 44 saves for the Tigers.
