MOSINEE – The Marshfield gymnastics team set a new school scoring record with 131.7 points and finished third in the Large Division competition at the Great Northern Conference Gymnastics Meet on Saturday at Mosinee High School.

The Tigers broke the school mark for the third time this season, eclipsing the past mark by 1.1 points

“I’m really happy with our performance today,” Marshfield coach Allie Dryer said. “We had exceptional vault and floor. Our first three events had no major errors, though we did still struggle on beam in the last round. We know we have room to improve coming into the sectional tournament.”

Sophomore Emma Haugen had the Tigers’ top two finishes, taking third in the floor exercise with a score of 8.925 and fourth in the vault with a score of 8.925.

Isabelle Jensen was fifth in the floor (8.6), Melanie Hafenbredl took seventh in the floor (8.575), and Brooke McGrath was seventh in the vault (8.775) for the Tigers.

Stevens Point won the team title with a score of 138.235 and ties Ashland for the overall conference championship.

Haugen ended up fifth in the all-around scoring with a 33.525.

Wisconsin Rapids’ Tia Dorshorst won the floor (9.075), uneven bars (9.6), vault (9.35) and the all-around title (36.625).

Marshfield will compete at the WIAA Division 1 sectionals next Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m.
