Top-seed Wittenberg-Birnamwood ends Auburndale girls basketball team’s season in WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal

WITTENBERG – No. 1-seed Wittenberg-Birnamwood proved too much for Auburndale to handle as the Apaches dropped a 61-23 decision in a WIAA Division 4 girls basketball regional semifinal Thursday night at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.

The Chargers (22-1) will host Stratford (17-7) in a regional final at 7 p.m. Monday.

Auburndale finishes its season with a 12-12 record.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood led 28-3 after a dominating first half, overwhelming the Apaches from the start.

Kirsten Clark scored 12 points to lead the Chargers.

Marissa Ponshock topped Auburndale with eight points.
