Columbus Catholic baseball drops opener at Pittsville

PITTSVILLE – Pittsville scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to overcome an early deficit and defeated Marshfield Columbus Catholic 14-4 in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Pittsville High School.

Pittsville is now 3-1 this season. The game was the season-opener for Columbus.

Columbus scored four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead before the Panthers exploded for eight runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to win the game via the 10-run rule.

Four Dons’ pitchers combined for 15 walks in the loss.

Columbus plays at Owen-Withee to open its Cloverbelt Conference East Division season Friday.
