MARSHFIELD – D.C. Everest edged Marshfield for the team title at the 2017 Marshfield Girls Indoor Track Relays on Tuesday at Marshfield High School.
Everest finished with 119 points, with Marshfield second with 103. Auburndale was third with 69 and Stratford took fourth with 62 points.
Marshfield had four first-place finishes.
The shot put relay team of Amy Martarano, Katie Osinski and Molly Meyers combined for a distance of 96 feet, 4½ inches, the best for the Tigers at the event in 16 years.
Maddie Nikolai, Meg Bryan and Kaydee Johnson also had the Tigers’ best triple jump relay since 2001 with a combined distance of 96 feet, 2 inches.
The sprint medley relay team of Nikolai, Johnson, Gracie Holland and Alexa Aumann won in a time of 2:41.28, the best for Marshfield in the event since 1992.
Marshfield’s fourth win came in the 2-lap (200 yards) relay as Brooke McGrath, Stephanie Rhodes, Shantel Nienast and Bryan ran in 42.59 seconds.
“We had some strong performances, especially in our field events, which are very solid this season,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “We had some quality competition with almost 300 athletes in this meet.”
Auburndale won the 800 relay in 3:06.89, the 1,600 relay in 4:32.84, and Rachel Gronemeyer, Amanda Momont and Isabelle Hilber combined for a height of 13 feet, 8 inches, to win the high jump relay.
Stratford’s best finish came from the 400 relay team that finished third in 1:28.16.
