Stratford STAR Men’s Basketball League begins playoffs

STRATFORD – The Stratford STAR Men’s Basketball League playoffs began Sunday, April 2, with eight games in two divisions.

Only three of the games were decided by single digits.

Playoffs continued Sunday, April 9.

A Division
*No. 1 seed US Bancorp whipped No. 8 Wick’s Auto Body 82-60. Dodge Langreck led US Bancorp with 18 points. Garret Streibig had 22 points for Wick’s.

*No. 2 seed Prudential/Success Realty rolled past No. 7 Financial Strategies 65-38. Cain Trunkel scored 29 points for Prudential. Bryan Weichelt had 14 points for Financial Strategies.

*No. 6 Smazal’s Hunters Choice pulled off an upset of No. 3 Nutz Deep II 73-65. Zach Zettler had 29 points in the win for Smazal’s. Nate Lehman topped Nutz with 20 points.

*Fourth-seed Victory Apparel edged No. 5 Kafka Forestry 80-78. Jordan Schlinsog had a league-high 32 points and Mike Reimer chipped in 26 for Victory Apparel. Dalton Lehman led Kafka with 21 points.

B Division
*Top-seed Chaps & Friends crushed No. 8 Lob City 102-71 behind 27 points from Keith Clater and 22 from Lucius Messerschmidt. Mike Reindfleisch had 23 points and Brad Guralski had 20 for Lob City.

*No. 2 Resource Recovery cruised past No. 7 LJ’s Sport Zone 74-58. Derrick Schmidt had 25 points and Joel Christopherson had 22 for Resource. Alex Lang led LJ’s with 16 points.

*No. 3 Marshfield Country Club beat up No. 6 Clyde’s Clubbers 76-49. Chris Klimpke topped MCC with 21 points. Brandon Kaiser led Clyde’s with 22 points.

*No. 5 Davis Auto slipped past No. 4 Weiler’s C-Stores 48-43. Kyle Davis had 24 points for Davis Auto. Danny Bargender scored 14 for Weiler’s.
