Marshfield softball blanks Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield softball team won its first Wisconsin Valley Conference game of the season, shutting out Wisconsin Rapids 9-0 on Tuesday at Wisconsin Rapids High School.

Megan Donahue threw the complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits, with no walks and 11 strikeouts. She also hit her second home run of the season and drove in four runs for the Tigers.

Jenna Jakobi had a single, a double, and two RBIs, Emily Draeger scored twice and drove in a run,a nd Madelyn Mews also had an RBI for Marshfield (3-1 overall, 1-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Wisconsin Rapids drops to 3-2 and 1-2 in the conference.

Marshfield hosts a doubleheader against two different teams on Thursday. The Tigers will play their regularly-scheduled game against Merrill at 4:30 p.m. and will take on Rhinelander in a make-up game following that at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
