Columbus Catholic boys sixth, girls ninth at Colby Track Invitational

COLBY – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys track team had eight top-three finishers to finish sixth at the Colby Track & Field Invitational on Tuesday at Colby High School.

The Columbus boys finished with 75 points to finish sixth among the 10 teams at the meet.

Medford won both the boys and girls team titles. The Dons’ girls were ninth.

Finishing second for the Columbus boys were Tim Gruenloh in the 800 meters (2:14.50), the 3,200 relay team of Joshua Guyer, Jon Viegut, Leonard Steinert and Jeremiah Giles (9:32.45), and the relay team of Nadim Torbey, Jose Martin, David Nielsen and Leo Pittsley in the 400 (47.46) and the 800 (1:38.03).

Peyton Nystrom was third in the 400 (56.15) and the 800 (2:16.26), Pittsley was third in the 200 (24.41), and Guyer was third in the 3,200 (11:25.03) for the Dons.

The top finishes for the Columbus girls came from the 3,200 relay team of Morgan Albrecht, Melanie Lang, Hannah Grubofski and Natalie Pospyhalla (12:00.69) and Pospyhalla individually in the 3,200 (13:33.76), which each finished second.

Columbus Catholic will compete at the Wood County Track Meet on Monday at Auburndale High School.
