MERRILL – Nina Hashimoto scored two goals in the first half and Marshfield made them hold up as it defeated Merrill 2-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday.

Hashimoto, a freshman, scored her first two varsity goals at the 19:20 and 41:19 marks.

Wendy Rodriguez saves all seven shots in goal for the Tigers (2-5-1, 1-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

“This was a nice win and one we needed,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “We have been close but tonight we put it together. We dodged a few great opportunities as Merrill players had point blank shots only to be denied by Wendy.

“The entire team played well, but tonight Emily Critelli stepped up her game and showed why she has been an all-conference player.”

Marshfield was scheduled to play Tomah at home Friday, but the game was canceled. The Tigers will host D.C. Everest in a WVC game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Griese Park.
