STRATFORD – The Stratford softball team dropped a pair of games at its home Stratford Invitational on Saturday at Hilgemann Field.
Wisconsin Rapids Assumption blanked Stratford 4-0 in what counted as a Marawood Conference South Division game after the originally scheduled contest was postponed on Friday. The Tigers also lost 4-3 to Mosinee in eight innings.
Kiana Weiler took the loss in both games for Stratford, giving up four runs in each game. She struck out three and didn’t walk a batter against Assumption (4-0, 3-0 Marawood South), and had one strikeout and one walk vs. Mosinee (6-2).
Stratford was held to three hits in the loss to Assumption as Kendall Schill tossed a complete game, striking out five.
The Tigers pounded out 14 hits against Mosinee, but could only muster single runs in the first, fourth and seventh innings. Mosinee won it with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
Brittany Bredemann continued her hot hitting for the Tigers (5-3, 1-1 Marawood South) with a double against Assumption and she was 3-for-5 with another double and an RBI against the Indians.
Sammy Kaiser was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Stratford against Mosinee.
Stratford hosts Pittsville at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Hilgemann Field.
