MARSHFIELD – D.C. Everest scored three times during the final 14 minutes of the first half and pulled away to beat Marshfield 8-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Tuesday at Griese Park.

D.C. Everest led 1-0 after a goal by Maddie Simpson at the 15:24 mark of the first half and the score held for the next 16 minutes before the Evergreens found their groove.

Everest (5-3, 4-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) scored three times before halftime and added four goals in the second half to win going away.

Maddie Haessly had Marshfield’s lone score, coming at the 10:05 mark of the second half.

“D.C. Everest is a very good team and they play like they practice – fast – and that was the difference,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “We were a step slow on many shots that they had and it led to goals.”

Both Marshfield goalies, Wendy Rodriguez and Andrea Carolfi, had four saves.

Marshfield (2-6-1, 1-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference) plays at Wausau East on Thursday.
