Spencer baseball pulls away to rout Gilman

SPENCER – Spencer scored 16 runs during the final three innings to whip Gilman 18-8 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Friday at Spencer High School.

Hunter Luepke allowed three runs, one earned, in 4 2/3 innings to earn the victory for the Rockets. He struck out nine, walked five, and also had two hits, a walk and scored three runs in the win.

Spencer led 2-1 after 3½ innings before plating four runs in the fourth. After Gilman (5-4, 3-3 Cloverbelt East) responded with three in the fifth, Spencer (5-3, 5-2 Cloverbelt East) scored seven in the bottom of the inning and added five more in the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Caden Schillinger had three hits and five RBIs, and Carson Hildebrandt added two doubles and also had five RBIs for Spencer. Brett Kasch and Tyler Brandt each chipped in with two hits as well for the Rockets.

Spencer hosts Neillsville at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
