Marshfield senior outfielder Andie Varsho and sophomore shortstop Taylor Varsho have been named to the first team of the 2010 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Softball Team.
Andie Varsho was named to the first team for the fourth straight season after claiming her fourth batting title. She hit .651 (28-for-43) and led the conference in doubles (10), runs scored (21) and stolen bases (18).
Taylor Varsho was sixth in the conference in hitting with a .477 average (21-for-44), tied for fifth in runs scored with 17 and led the Tigers with 14 RBIs.
Marshfield junior pitcher Rhiannon Baierl was named to the second team.
She had a 7-4 record with a 3.41 earned run average. She struck out 40 and walked 42 in 80 innings pitched, giving up 95 hits.
Stevens Point pitcher Kelly Franks, who allowed just four runs (three earned) in 61 innings pitched. Was named the Wisconsin Valley Conference Player of the Year. Franks struck out 82, walked just 15 and allowed only 26 hits, going 11-0 for the WVC champion Panthers.
Stevens Point coach Tom Drohner was named coach of the year.
