WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team’s season came to an end with a 16-1 loss to No. 1 seed and undefeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal Wednesday at Robinson Park.
The Royals scored 13 runs in the first inning to make quick work of Columbus.
The Dons were held to two hits. Ella Schultz singled and scored on a single by Maddie DeSmet in the fourth inning for their only run.
Assumption (18-0) moves on to a regional final at home against Augusta on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Columbus Catholic ends its season with a 7-12 record.
