Marshfield Junior Legion cruises past Antigo in opener of Antigo Tournament

ANTIGO – The Marshfield Post 54 Junior American Legion baseball team scored multiple runs in five different innings and rolled past Antigo 13-5 in the opening game of the Antigo Junior Legion Baseball Tournament on Friday night at Kretz Park.

Marshfield jumped out to a 7-0 lead after scoring three times in the first inning and four times in the fourth.

The Blue Devils (7-3) added two runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to finish off the win.

Mason Coffren earned the victory for Marshfield, striking out eight in six innings. He walked nine, but allowed just two hits and three earned runs (four overall). He also added an RBI double for the Blue Devils, who have won four games in a row.

Riley Boushack, Tyler Spaeth and Mitch Wilhelm each had two hits, with Spaeth, Boushack and Caden Schillinger racking up a pair of RBIs each for Marshfield.

Marshfield will play East Troy at 2:30 p.m. and Gladstone (Mich.) right after the completion of that game on Saturday as the tournament continues.
