Marshfield Legion baseball splits doubleheader at Antigo

ANTIGO – The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Antigo on Thursday night.

The Blue Devils won 3-2 and lost 7-0 to remain at .500 this season, moving their record to 11-11.

Marshfield was held to just four hits in the opener, but plated two runs in the third and won it with a run in the seventh when Austin Palacek reached on an error and Ryan Krueger, who led off the inning with a single, scored.

Jake Brueggen went the distance for the Blue Dvils, striking out five and walking one for a complete-game five-hitter.

In the second game, Antigo pitchers A.J. Kirsch and Nick Marshall limited Marshfield to just three hits to combine for the shutout.

Marshfield finishes its regular-season schedule with a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game at D.C. Everest on Friday night.
