Plover bounces Marshfield Junior Legion baseball from 17U regional

STEVENS POINT – Plover scored seven runs during the first two innings and held on from there to beat the Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team 8-2 on Friday night at the 17U American Legion baseball regional at Bukolt Park.

The loss by the Blue Devils (19-7) eliminates them from the regional and pushes Plover into the championship round scheduled for Saturday.

Marshfield hosts the Wisconsin State 17U Junior Legion Tournament next week and earns an automatic spot in the eight-team field. Marshfield will play in the final of four games on Wednesday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field. The double-elimination tournament will run through July 23.

Mason Coffren had an RBI double in the sixth inning and Jacob Earll scored on a passed ball in the seventh for the Blue Devils’ lone two runs.
