Auburndale football drops opener to Pittsville

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale football team dropped its season opener at home to Pittsville 24-8 on Friday night.

The game was a nonconference contest.

Auburndale was held to just 36 yards rushing on 26 attempts.

Riley Wayerski ran for 138 yards and a touchdown, and Luke Denniston threw a pair of scores to Bailey Herkert to provide Pittsville with its scoring.

Auburndale’s lone score came in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass from Ryan Isaacson to Cale Jacoby.

Auburndale will host Manawa in another nonconference game next Friday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m.
