Marshfield volleyball finishes 1-2 at home quad

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team won one of three matches as it opened its season with a home quadrangular meet Tuesday at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 27-25, 15-25, 15-13, before dropping matches to Hudson 25-18, 18-25, 15-13, and Merrill 25-18, 25-15.

Newman and Merrill each finished 2-1, but Newman beat the Bluejays to claim the team title. Hudson also finished 1-2.

Jordyn Wilcott had 20 kills, Corianne Johnson racked up 55 assists, Kaydee Johnson had 30 digs defensively, and Hannah Meverden had five blocks to lead the Tigers.

Alexis Schnitzler added 26 digs, Wilcott had 23 digs, and Kati Sadowska had four service aces as well for Marshfield.

Marshfield will compete at the two-day Sun Prairie Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
