Marshfield volleyball finishes 1-4 at opening day of Sun Prairie Invitational

SUN PRAIRIE – The Marshfield volleyball team had a rough opening day at the Sun Prairie Invitational, going 1-4 in pool play.

The Tigers lost to Madison Edgewood 23-25, 25-14, 15-8; Sun Prairie 25-14, 25-17; De Pere 25-21, 25-22; and Waupun 25-23, 17-25, 15-12; and defeated Wrightstown 19-25, 25-13, 15-11 for their lone victory.

Jordyn Wilcott had 38 kills, and Karly Nikolai and Lindsey Steffen each added 22 kills for the Tigers. Corianne Johnson had 97 assists and 31 digs in the four matches, Kaydee Johnson added 30 digs, Hannah Meverden had six block kills, and Kati Sadowska had nine service aces for Marshfield.

“This is always a competitive tournament,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “Although we obviously would have liked to have a better record today, we are showing we can play with some very good teams. This experience is only going to make our young team better.”

Marshfield will continue play in the tournament on Saturday.
