Marshfield volleyball tops Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield volleyball team earned a much-needed victory as it beat Wisconsin Rapids 3-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Thursday at Lincoln High School.

The Tigers improve to 3-5 in the WVC, while Rapids falls to 1-6.

Marshfield won the match 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18.

Corianne Johnson had 50 assists, Hannah Meverden had 13 kills and six blocks, Linsdey Steffens and Karly Nikolai each had 12 kills, and Kaydee Johnson had 30 digs to lead the Tigers. Steffens added 28 digs.

Marshfield will play D.C. Everest, Merrill and Wausau East at the second Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet on Saturday at Wausau West, then will wrap up its regular-season schedule Tuesday at home against Stevens Point.
